About Jade
Born in Durban, South Africa, Jodi Jade has led a nomadic life, traveling the world while making and selling her jewelry with her life partner, Rodrigo from Mexico. They have three children. Her first daughter was born in their house in San Cristobal, Mexico. It was there that she first received the La Cerrada ceremony, 40 days after birth. In 2021, she birthed her twins, 42 weeks pregnant in her home in Cape Town. Almost 12 years later, while traveling in Mexico, she unexpectedly ran into her first midwife, Letticia Hernandez, who decided to initiate her into this ancient ritual. She spent the next few months with Letticia, learning the art of The Closing of the Bones ceremony.
MY APPROACH
I feel deeply honoured to be initiated into the lineage of this simple yet potent ritual. My life partner is Mexican, and after 13 years together, our bloodlines have merged. I feel a deep connection to Mexican culture and am honoured to carry this ritual and share it in its traditional and authentic essence. After receiving this ceremony for the first time, I felt held, acknowledged and empowered. I feel deeply passionate that ALL women deserve to be honoured in this way. I believe the potency of this ritual lies in the way in which the space and the women are held. The vibration that is created stays with us forever. It permeates a feeling and frequency that anchors us to a particular moment in time. I am honoured to witness and be of service to all women.
